Mr. Jimmie Spears currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at the Human Services Council (HSC). In this pivotal role, he oversees all financial aspects, including reporting, accounting, treasury investment, auditing, and strategic analysis of the organization’s cash flow. As a key member of the executive team, Jimmie plays a crucial role in financial decision-making and contributes to the overall success of HSC.

In addition to his financial responsibilities, Jimmie manages a dedicated staff that oversees information systems, risk management, contract and lease agreements, and personnel matters for HSC. His leadership extends to the administration of the company’s health, life, and retirement programs, ensuring the well-being of HSC’s valuable team members.

Before joining HSC, Jimmie held the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Video Advertising Bureau (VAB), where he also served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations. His extensive background includes senior managerial roles in not-for-profit organizations, where he planned and supervised audit engagements of tax-exempt organizations and managed compliance programs for healthcare entities.

Jimmie’s expertise in the not-for-profit and public sector arena is vast, including roles as Director of Fiscal Services for Middlesex Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts, and Boston City Hospital in Boston, MA. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer for Huntington General in Boston, showcasing his dedication to healthcare administration.

His professional journey includes time with global financial services firm KPMG LLP, where he planned and supervised audit engagements within the healthcare and public sector industries. Jimmie’s role in KPMG’s National Corporate Compliance Team involved developing compliance programs for healthcare entities, emphasizing his commitment to financial control and organizational performance improvement.

Jimmie Spears is a distinguished member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds CPA licenses in both New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Jimmie earned his honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal.

Jimmie and his daughter proudly call Fairfield County, Connecticut, home, embodying his commitment to family and community in alignment with HSC’s mission. His role as Chief Financial Officer at HSC reflects his dedication to financial excellence and advancing the organization’s impact in the community.
